Bro. Mark was called to Southside Baptist Church in January 1999. He received his bachelor’s degree
from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Fort Worth where he earned his Master of Divinity and later Doctor of Ministry degrees. He
is married to Kelly and they have three grown children and seven grandchildren. Bro. Mark’s hobbies include
reading, eating Blue Bell ice cream and learning French. He is committed to the faithful exposition of
God’s Word, the priority of prayer in the church, and the ministry of the people of God to those in need.
Bret has been a member of Southside since he was a kid. After graduating from high school, he traveled with Life Action Ministries for two years as a band member. He received his bachelors in business administration from Boyce College, the undergraduate school of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. Bret works at a local bank as a loan officer, but on Sundays you will find him on the stage leading worship. Fun fact, Bret plays over 12 instruments.
Marci grew up in a small town near Abilene, TX and graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Communication. She worked in the A/V industry for several years and later worked at Pine Cove Christian Camps after she and her family moved to Tyler in 2001. She and her husband Kirk are grateful to be able to serve in various roles at Southside and to raise their three boys in Tyler and in the church. Marci loves movies, acting, watching football, singing with her old-time/bluegrass band and playing bass guitar with the Southside praise band!
MINISTER OF STUDENTS & FAMILY LIFE
Franklin is from the small town of Holland, Texas. Franklin met his wife, Kelly, at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) through their degrees and church events. During their time at UMHB, Franklin and Kelly attended Temple Bible Church.
Franklin worked with Rose City Summer Camps here in Tyler for two summers. He had the privilege of seeing the camp increase from one camp at the club to two camps at local schools! It was quite a feat, but he says it was an exciting time to serve the kids of Tyler.
Nicole Cadenhead has been the Children's Director since 2019, but has been heavily involved in our children's department since her family joined Southside in 2010. Her love and passion for children shows throughout her ministry. She believes in a hands-on approach in children's ministry and loves hanging out with the kids. Whether she is teaching Bible Drills, leading Sunday morning assembly, assisting other teachers in class, playing games, or just hanging out with the kids, Nicole believes building a relationship with the kids is key! The children's ministry is one of the most important ministries at Southside and she strives to keep it that way! Nicole organizes several events throughout the year including the Children's Christmas party, Fall Festival, Vacation Bible School, and many other events. Nicole is happily married to her husband, Jason, and has two children, Preston and Mason. She loves to hike and hopes to one day hike Pike's Peak. Nicole is also the queen of playing innocent and fun pranks on people.
My father was a Baptist minister, so I grew up folding bulletins and turning on and off the lights of the church every Sunday. I became a Christian at a young age, but later surrendered my life to Christ at age thirteen. I went to Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn. and majored in elementary education/kindergarten. Believing that I wanted to serve God in church ministry, I went on to Southwestern Seminary to receive my Master’s in Education with an emphasis on youth ministry. While there, I met and married my husband, Mark Price. It has been my honor to support him as a pastor’s wife. I love babies and preschoolers. I have been the preschool coordinator since 2013. I believe that it is my job to teach them to love the church, Jesus, and the Bible. It is my job to teach them to pray and sing praises to God every Sunday. So, if you visit our church you will see us doing this in Sunday School and church.
Elissa, like her brother, Bret, grew up at Southside where her family was incredibly active. After graduating from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a degree in communications, she moved to Michigan for four years to work for a non-profit revival ministry, Life Action Ministries. Elissa moved back and transitioned into another local church before God called her to come back to Southside. She serves as the media coordinator, managing the website, livestream and social media. A fun fact about Elissa is that she is convinced she was born in the wrong time period because of her passion for music and musicals from the 1940s-1960s.
